The BORGES work plan is articulated into 9 work packages (WPs), 5 of which are highly interconnected scientific WPs devoted to R&D and field-testing. The 4 remaining WPs will be devoted to Training, Communication, Management and Ethics.
The research program in BORGES is therefore composed by the following WPs:
WP1 Understanding transduction in organic electronics biosensors will aim to combine theoretical and experimental investigations to gain new insights into the molecular events underlying the response organic electronics biosensors
WP2 Materials, technologies and fabrication strategies will aim to developing novel materials, functionalization strategies and manufacturing procedures for organic electronics biosensors.
WP3 Developing novel biosensor architectures will aim to the fabrication and integration of novel label-free biosensors for analytes in different matrices.
WP4 Integrating, up-scaling and prototyping will aim to define novel fabrication and integration strategies for reducing time-to-market of organic electronics biosensors, with a special focus on interfacing the device electronics with microfluidics.
WP5 In-field testing: towards clinical use will aim to test the performances of the BORGES biosensors in relevant environments, also by developing user-centred interfaces facilitating the operation of the biosensors by end users.
