Pamela was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to Spain when she was fourteen years old. She received her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Balearic Islands University (UIB) and received her M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). During her master education, she did an internship for six months in the institute of Research Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP), at the Plasmodium vivax and Exosomes Laboratory in Barcelona, Spain. There she worked with the Luminex technology multiplex assays, while trying to identify Plasmodium vivax vaccine candidates. Pamela was always fascinated by the world of infectious diseases, specially those developed on the Tropics. That is the reason why she is always looking for promising techniques which can be applied under low socio-economic conditions, seeking always for people’s wellness.

In BORGES, she is working at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) under the supervision of Carlo A. Bortolotti.  Pamela will aim to the fabrication and demonstration of electronic sensing devices for the quantification of biomarkers for immunosenescence (progressive, time-dependent deterioration of the immune system) in test solutions and human samples. The biosensors will be based on organic electronic devices with EGOT (Electrolyte Gated Organic Transistor) architecture.
